EDITORIAL MANIFESTO

About: Our editing priorities

Cliphoppertickscn (cliphoppertickscn.lat) is an independent reference workbench built for editors, educators, makers, and documentary storytellers who cut short-form vertical and portrait video.

Too much advice about short video treats editing as a collection of algorithmic superstitions or downloadable transition packs. When an edit relies on a flashy shake preset every two seconds to keep viewers awake, it obscures the subject matter instead of sharpening it.

1. Diagnose by visible symptom, not by menu tab

Nobody sits down at an editing station thinking, "I wish I knew where the ripple-delete submenu lives." Editors sit down thinking, "Why does the first five seconds of my clip feel so heavy?" or "Why does the cut from the wide shot to the close-up feel clumsy?"

Every guide on this site starts with the flaw visible in playback, explains the perceptual reason why the human eye or ear stumbles at that moment, and only then offers the keyboard shortcuts and timeline adjustments to fix it.

2. Principles outlast software versions

Whether you cut on DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut Desktop, or Avid Media Composer, the underlying mechanics of visual storytelling remain identical:

3. Honest benchmarks, not guaranteed metrics

Throughout our workbench panels, any timing figure, decibel range, or character count is presented strictly as a practical starting benchmark—never a promised audience outcome. Every piece of footage has its own internal cadence. Our goal is to help you hear and see that cadence more clearly.
